Stress urinary incontinence

Stress urinary incontinence (SUI) is a common problem for women. It shows in an unwanted urine leak when walking down stairs, sneezing, coughing, running, sex and laughing …

Causes of stress urinary incontinence (SUI)

Urinary leakage is the weakness of closure of mechanism of female urethra, which is a consequence of relaxation of a spiral muscle and pelvic floor muscle, postnatal injuries, lack of female sex hormons and other degenerative changes.
Additionally, SUI problems can also increase with prolonged pressure in the abdomen, which occurs in chronic cough, obesity or heavy lifting.

Possibility of treatment of stress urinary incontinence (SUI) with a laser

The most recent and very successful method of treating stress urinary incontinence (SUI) is the use of laser technology. It is used in mild to moderate stress urinary incontinence. Preliminary clinical surveys suggest that the method is effective, simple and, above all, safe.

We use the Fotonin laser ErYAG with a wavelength of 2940 nm. This wavelength with photothermal effect affects the collagen fibers, which are around the vagina, urethra and the endopelvic fascia. It causes collagen transformation, redistribution and re-growth in a collagen tissue. By illuminating entrance to the vagina, the urethra and the endophelial fascia in the front wall of the vagina by the laser we achieve thicker collagen. With this, the urethra and its closing mechanism are provided with a firm support and therefore a water retention.

In most cases, stress urinary incontinence and loose vagina syndrom are connected and for that reason we usually ofter treatment for both in only one procedure!

With gynecological examination we evaluate the static of your pelvic floor, identify the loose vagina syndrom and evaluate the level of stress urinary incontinence (SUI). In case of significant slip of the uterus or vagine, we do not recommend this procedure.

The procedure can not be interfered by the inserted cervix, nor hormonal contraception, hormone replacement therapy or pre-sterilization. The procedure is not performed during menstruation.

A treatment is done on a gynecological chair and it only takes for about 10 minutes. we spray the vaginal entrance with a local anesthetic to make sure you do not feel any pain in the entire process. To protect the eyes from the laser light, you have to wear a protective glasses throughout the procedure. At the beginning of the procedure, a gynecologist inserts a special 360° laser probe and illuminates the inside with short laser pulses. Then the gynecologist removes the laser probe and it illuminates the entrance to the vagina. This part of the procedure is particularly demanding and crucial for improving the quality of sexual intercourses. This is how the procedure ends.

After the procedure:

  • The patient can go home immediately after the procedure and return to their daily chores.
  • The vagina is minimally sensitive after the procedure.
  • Sometimes vaginal discharge occurs in first three days.
  • Sexual relationships and swimming in the pool are not recommended for 1 week.
You come to the check-up after one month. We discuss and can do possible gynecological examinations to determine the effect of the procedure.
