Liposuction

Liposuction is a procedure in which we remove fat from those parts of the body, where they can not be eliminated only by weight loss and sport activity. With liposuction, we can permanently transform the body without visible scarring and with a short recovery.

Liposuction is a very popular body sculpting procedure. Stubborn pockets of fat that do not respond to diet and exercise can be removed from most areas of the body, giving you smoother, more desirable contours.

Benefits of liposuction

Liposuction is not an alternative to diet and exercise, but it can remove stubborn pockets of fat that have not responded to a healthy lifestyle. Areas that can be treated with liposuction include:

  • Abdomen
  • Thighs
  • Buttocks
  • Knees
  • Upper arms
  • Neck
  • Chin
  • Checks

Liposuction can be performed alone or to complement other procedures such as a facelift.

How it works

Liposuction works by breaking up fat and suctioning it out of the body. There are many methods.
Our team prefers SmartLipo because it is the safest and least invasive method with minimal recovery time. SmartLipo uses a very tiny cannula and is laser assisted. The laser precisely breaks up the fat and it seals the blood vessels as it goes which means greatly reduced swelling and bruising and increased safety.
SmartLipo has the advantage of smoothing and tightening the skin, so it does not leave behind the loose, excess skin that other liposuction techniques can create.

SmartLipo is appropriate for large and small areas of fat. UAL uses high frequency sound waves to liquefy the fat. UAL is preferred over tumescent liposuction for precisely removing small areas of fat. When tumescent liposuction was first introduced, it was a great improvement over “dry” liposuction, reducing the risk and making the entire procedure easier and more effective.

Tumescent liposuction involves injecting liquid into the treatment area before breaking up and suctioning the fat.

Liposuction candidates

Liposuction is a very effective way to sculpt your body, giving you the beautiful contours you desire. In order to be a good candidate you should be:

  • in good overall health
  • within 25 pounds of your ideal weight
  • stable in your weight

Liposuction is not appropriate for everyone. We do not recommend liposuction for patients with the following conditions:

  • diabetes
  • lung disease
  • clotting disorders
  • poor circulation
  • obesity

Liposuction recovery

During your liposuction recovery, a compression garment or elastic bandages may cover treatment areas once your procedure is completed. These help to control swelling and compress the skin to your new body contours.
